ORLEANS TOWN HALL

Location: Orleans, MA
Program: Municipal – New Construction
Date of Completion: 2004

The Town of Orleans developed a plan to renovate and construct an addition to the existing Town Hall. The project was estimated to be over budget due to the many repairs the existing building needed as it was the old School House, an historical structure. A citizens group in favor of building a new structure instead of renovating the old hired us to do a preliminary design study and make a presentation at the annual Town Hall meeting for a vote as a cost savings alternative to the Town’s proposal. The new building was to be located directly across the road from the current and the old School House was proposed to remain and be used for community functions. The vote was close to a tie however it was lost in favor of the more expensive alternative of restoration and addition.
